The Story of Riker Design

Hi! I'm Natalie, the creator behind Riker Design. It all started as an idea back in early 2017. I had some experience using a laser at a previous job—and I absolutely loved it! After some brainstorming (and a leap of faith), we decided to purchase a laser of our own and officially launch Riker Design.

Although I was already familiar with the software, there was still so much to learn—and honestly, I'm still learning every day! I love experimenting and engraving on just about anything I can get my hands on. Want to know the most unexpected (and delicious) thing I’ve ever lasered? A pumpkin pie! It smelled amazing and was such a hit at Thanksgiving dinner.

As I started creating more items, my husband and I came up with the idea to design LED bases with custom acrylic toppers. That soon evolved into one of our favorite projects: beautiful family trees engraved on wood plaques. These are definitely the most challenging pieces to make, but they’re also the most rewarding. The heartfelt messages I receive from customers warm my heart every time. Family trees have become one of our signature creations—perfect as meaningful gifts or lasting heirlooms for future generations.

Now, I’m excited to introduce a brand-new addition to the Riker Design collection: 3D paper globes with LED bases. These unique pieces are crafted with intricate detail, made right here in the USA by me. They combine delicate paper art with soft, glowing light to create a truly magical effect. I currently offer around 41 different globe designs, each one thoughtfully created to highlight its own distinct charm. I’m especially thrilled to include LDS temple globes in this growing collection—a beautiful way to celebrate faith, heritage, and meaningful places. These globes make perfect gifts, home decor, or cherished keepsakes.
